Jekka McVicar

"Jekka is amazing...she is the queen of herbs!" Jamie Oliver
The UK's leading organic herb grower, Jekka McVicar received her ninth Gold Medal in a row at the 2004 Chelsea Flower Show.

Licensed by the Soil Association, and endorsed by the HDRA, her family-run herb farm now grows over four hundred varieties, and holds the largest collection of culinary and medicinal herbs in the UK.

In addition to the day-to-day running of the farm, Jekka also makes regular appearances on television and radio on both gardening and cookery programmes. For three years she presented a series on BBC Radio 4 called Herbs Pure and Simple.

An enthusiastic writer on herbs, she contributes articles to all the leading gardening magazines, as well as the BBC Good Food magazine. Jekka is also an engaging public speaker and runs herb workshops for RHS Wisley and the Eden Project. She has published three highly successful organic herb books, Jekka's Complete Herb Book, Good Enough to Eat and Seeds.

Jekka won a gold medal for her garden at the Chelsea Flower Show 2006.
