Tracey Cox is the author of DK's best-selling books Supersex and Superflirt. Tracey was the editor of Cosmopolitan magazine in Australia, has an academic background in psychology and writes regularly for many leading publications including Glamour, The Sunday Times and Closer magazine. She has appeared on numerous television programs around the world including Canada’s Sex TV, MuchMoreMusic’s The Loop, The Mike Bullard Show and is currently featured on TLC's Date Patrol, and the hot new UK show The Sex Inspectors. Tracey tells all about the fabulously fun Supersex Deck and The Hot Box, her naughty new sex toys range and some top tips for Valentine's Day. Plus, get to know the real Tracey as she bears all for our quick questions...

Tracey, with Valentine's Day around the corner, do you have any top tips for adding some Va Va Voom to the occasion?

Singles should react to Valentines Day, depending on their mood. If you feel like a sad single, ignore it! Hook up with single friends and watch a (non-romantic) movie, refusing to talk about why you don’t have boy/girlfriends. Instead, write down 10 reasons why being single is great (you can do what you want when you want, no having to put up with boring in-laws or snoring bed partners etc). Believe me, as you’re wallowing and wishing you had a partner, there are a lot of people trapped in routine, unsatisfying relationships who would kill to be in your shoes! Relax and enjoy the freedom while you can: you will meet someone special! If you’re in a good headspace, head out to a popular club or bar or go to one of those Valentines ‘singles’ nights. I know plenty of people who dragged themselves along and ended up meeting the love of their life.

For couples, my advice would be forget about the romantic dinner out and instead spent the night IN, focusing on your sex life. A recent survey of 16,000 Americans showed people who had the most sex were also the happiest – and the happiest of all were those who had sex only with one person. Love is important but so is lust. Spend the night in bed with a load of good sex books, champagne, gorgeous goodies to nibble on (apart from each other that is) and a stack of post-it notes. Go through the books and mark anything you’d like to try before handing it over to your partner. This will do more to guarantee your future happiness than gazing lovingly across at each other, surrounded by other couples doing the same thing. Head for your standard romantic restaurant and the pressure is on to appear to be the most ‘in love’ couple in the room. Unless you’re both blissfully happy, it can backfire horribly.

Tell us about your latest publications: the Supersex Deck (a raunchy card game) and the Hot Box (a double bill of red hot reading). What is the idea behind the card game?

We featured a pack of cards with intercourse positions on the TV show I co-host, The Sex Inspectors. They were incredibly popular, so I decided to produce a set of my own which not only had positions, but erotic games, hints and tips on them. The cards are gorgeous –I can’t stop picking them up - and it’s a fun, non-threatening way to add a bit of raunch to your sex life. The Hot Box is cute: it contains a copy of pocket superflirt and pocket supersex so you’ve covered on all counts no matter where you are!

What does 2006 have in store for Tracey Cox? I've heard a rumour you're branching out into sex toys? Is this true?

It certainly is! I’ve just launched my own sex toy range, which is available online at www.traceycoxshop.com. I was involved in designing the new Durex range of vibrators, called Play, and it inspired me to create my own range. I’ve started with some good affordable basics, which look great, work well and are packaged stylishly. I intend to keep adding to the range, judging on where I think the need is. There are currently so many sex toys out there, it’s confusing. I think people trust me about sex and know if I recommend something, I honestly do think it’s good.

As for what I’ve got planned for next year...lots! As well as the new products, my website is being completely revamped, I’ve got two new books coming out and it’s looking likely that I’ll do another TV show in America. The Sex Inspectors, the British show I did with Channel Four in the UK, has been bought by lots of other countries (Spain, Iceland, Norway, Sweden and more) and it’s doing really well on HBO in the States. Any excuse to hang around New York – it’s my second favourite city next to London.

Who is your favourite author?

Totally impossible question – how could I possibly pick just one? I adore books, all kinds of them, and devour an eclectic range of books. My favourites include Siri Hustvedt, Zoe Heller, Stephen Fry and Haruki Murakami.

What is your favourite book?

Also impossible. I’ll narrow it to two favourites at this very moment: What I Loved by Siri Hustvedt and Notes on a Scandal by Zoe Heller.

What is your idea of happiness?

Right now, it’s having time because that’s the thing I lack the most. Thoughts of a long, lazy, fabulously decadent lunch with a lover are pretty damn appealing! Good food, great red wine, loads of conversations about life, love, sex and relationships, then stumble home to snuggle on the couch and watch a film. Bliss!

Where in the world would you like to be?

In Club 55 in St Tropez – an amazing restaurant, which has its own private beach. I’d like to be lying in a deckchair, drinking a bottle of Rose (wine again!) and reading a book while chatting with a close friend. This is exactly what I did in September and I dream of being back there!

How would you like to be remembered?

As somebody who helped people have better sex and relationships. And made them laugh along the way.
