Clare Maxwell-Hudson has been called ""the unquestioned pioneer of the revival of massage therapy in Britain"" by The Therapist magazine. She is a leading authority on massage and is internationally recognized for her contribution to the health sciences. Her best-selling books include The Complete Book of Massage, Aromatherapy Massage Book, and Pocket Massage for Stress Relief, all published by Dorling Kindersley.
Clare grew up in Africa where people were more relaxed about touch and often used it to communicate. Her mother received regular massages for her bad back which always left her in a good mood. Clare realized then that massage was a wonderful thing, and that everyone should be able to do it.
She has spent three decades studying and researching massage techniques and health and beauty lore in many differing cultures. She has broadcast her system of massage widely on radio and television, and is Principal of her own massage school in London and a Director of the Massage Therapy Institute of Great Britain.
Working closely with the medical profession Clare Maxwell-Hudson pioneered the use of massage in hospitals, and she and her graduates now work extensively within the National Health Service.
