Michelle Hainer
Michelle Hainer knew she wanted to be a writer by the time she was eight years old. Each day, her third grade teacher posted a prompt on the blackboard and asked the students to use it to create a story. One day, the instructions were to write about a feast, but Michelle, who was having trouble seeing the blackboard, thought it said beast. That mistake would change her life. Though she feared she would fail the assignment—and have to get glasses— her teacher loved her story. She even asked if she could share it with her colleagues. That’s when Michelle knew she’d grow up to be a writer. And if she had to wear glasses while doing so, that was fine, too.
Today she is doing exactly that (though she has traded in her specs for contact lenses). After graduating from New York University, Michelle spent seven years as a writer and editor at Teen People, where she covered news and lifestyle trends for teens. Today she is a freelance writer and editorial consultant whose work has appeared in People, The Washington Post, Time Out New York Kids, Country Living, and Seventeen. A native of North Branford, CT, Michelle lives in New York City. Girl World: Quiz Zone and Girl World: Quiz Zone 2 are her first books.
