DK SDCC

San Diego Comic-Con is always a great show for DK, and this year was no exception. In fact, this year might have been DKs best Comic-Con ever! DK had a slew of great authors, illustrators, and fans at the booth for five frenzied-but-fantastic days. Here are some of our highlights from San Diego Comic-Con 2010.

The authors and illustrators of Star Wars Year by Year and Star Wars Blueprints Rebel Edition gathered in front of a packed room early Friday morning to talk about the creative processes behind two of this year's most-anticipated Star Wars titles. Hosted by Beau Ryan of the Streamy-nominated The Rad Nerd Show, the panel covered everything, from the technical processes involved in building Y-Wings from the outside in, to the unexpected quagmire of sorting through Star Wars comics release dates. The Q&A session that followed gave fans an opportunity to ask their own questions, and at the end of it all, five lucky attendees won copies of the books. Pablo Hidalgo, Dan Wallace, Ryder Winham, Gus Lopez, Chris Reiff, and Chris Trevas also had several busy signing sessions throughout the weekend. For more coverage look here and here!

Lost Encyclopedia Panellost encyclopedia

The only official LOST panel of this year's Comic-Con, DK's LOST but Not Forgotten panel was so popular that people were turned away from the line half an hour before it even began. Authors Tara Bennett and Paul Terry talked about the creation of the LOST Encyclopedia, showed previews of the spreads, and answered audience questions (including one from Sterling Beaumon, the actor who played young Benjamin Linus on LOST). ABC even aired 60 seconds of never-before-seen bonus content from LOST: The Final Season.  Earlier in the day Tara and Paul signed Con-premier copies of LOST Artifacts, a mini book sampler of the full encyclopedia due out Fall 2010. DK SDCC Scavenger Hunt

This year we debuted our first official DK San Diego Comic Con Scavenger Hunt. A list of 30+ things to look for while fans walked the more than 3 miles of Comic-Con aisles and waited on line for Hall H previews. Lots of people stopped by to grab a card, and some even posted pics on Twitter. You can see the whole scavenger hunt list here. Sadly, no one rose up to the challenge of bringing Joss to the booth. Better luck next year?

Next up, look for DK at Star Wars Celebration V!
